A project now completed for a lovely young family in Rowton, Chester. We totally renovated and modernised the whole downstairs of their 80s style house. We listened to their requirements and offered our own advice and suggestions.
We then designed a new open plan kitchen which required taking down a supporting brick wall and fitted a calculated RSJ. This was overseen and passed by Chester & Cheshire West building control. We blocked and bricked up the back door to create more space as a corner walk in larder was top of the list for the kitchen design.
The old kitchen, corner alcove, back door and supporting wall were removed on our first day. The backdoor was blocked up inside and matching bricks blended in on the outside. The small utility room wall was taken down and rebuilt to make a bigger more useable room. Where the dividing wall was our builders placed across to support the joists that were now exposed. On the 2nd day the RSJ was fitted along with 1st fix gas, plumbing and electrics. Our electrician then proceeded to put in new lighting cables for LED ceiling spotlights. All coving was removed, and our plasterers boarded & bonded the new open area. The old fashion brick work fireplace was plaster boarded also. The plasterers then skimmed the whole of downstairs. The entire floor area was then self-levelled by our floor fitter.
The kitchen that was supplied and fitted was our Vero slab door range in painted anthracite matt, with light grey units. The worktops were Spectra 22mm Andromeda white laminate that gives the effect of Quartz worktops but without the price tag. A matching splashback & upstands were also fitted. A gunmetal grey granite sink, and matching tap were fitted to match the colour of the kitchen doors. The appliances were a Hotpoint single oven with a matching combination microwave above, a Hotpoint integrated dishwasher, an electric hob with a hidden extractor above. The American fridge freezer was also plumbed in to provide filtered water & ice. 2 tall new anthracite radiators were also fitted. Already for the floor layers to fit stick down LVT flooring throughout. 3 new doorframes & 4 new doors were also fitted before finishing of with new skirting.
The new utility room had a tall unit with a freestanding washing machine and a freestanding tumble dryer sitting above it to utilise the space, a small sink, wall unit and tall broom cupboard also fitted. We removed the old downstairs toilet, sink and tiles and replaced with a new modern vanity unit, toilet and square sink.
